About Us
Cana Movement is an organisation of people who have the family at heart. It is a voluntary organisation within the Catholic Church of Malta. Our objectives are:
- to help couples prepare for marriage,
- to help couples or individuals who are facing difficulties in their relationships,
- to help couples strengthen their marriage and their family.
The first Marriage Preparation Course was held in Sliema in 1952, led by the young Seminarian Charles G. Vella. In 1956 Cana Movement was officially approved by H.G. Bishop Mgr Sir Michael Gonzi. During the first years the Movement quickly established itself in offering family-related services and counselling services. The year 1962 saw Cana Movement moving to its present premises within the newly-built Catholic Institute.
Cana Movement is headed by a Council elected by the members during the Movement's Annual General Meeting.
